Who is this trek for? It is for those who want don't want to take the standard trek up to Everest Base Camp, but want to challenge themselves a little more by trekking throughout the Everest Region seeing some of the most epic views the Himalayas have to offer!
Do you want an epic, amazing trek in the Nepal Himalaya Mountains? Then the Everest Three Passes Trek is for you! This 21 day journey goes all thru the Everest Region and gives some of the very best mountain views of any trek in Nepal. This pass gets its name as it crosses three high passes in the Khumbu Region of Nepal: the Renjo La Pass (5340m/17,520 ft), Cho La Pass (5420m/17,782 ft) and the Kongma La Pass (5535m/18,159 ft). This is the ultimate trek to Everest Base Camp.
As this trek goes considerably further than our standard Everest Base Camp Trek, you should be in good physical condition for this trek. Starting in Kathmandu, you will spend the day exploring Nepal's fascinating capital. From Kathmandu, you will take the short flight to Lukla, the starting point of your trek. From there, you will trek slowly up to Namche Bazaar, the heart and soul of Sherpa culture! After a couple of nights in Namche, you will set out across the famed Three Passes going to Kala Patthar, Everest Base Camp and Goyko before working your way back to Lukla and flying back to Kathmandu.

Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu. Upon arrival, you will be picked up from the airport and transferred to a centrally located hotel.
Day 2: Rest/Prep and sightseeing. Today you will have a short half day tour. You will visit the historic Unesco World Heritage site of the Bhaktapur Durbar Square. It will be a short guided tour exploring this city founded around the 10th Century. Also, Bhaktapur being the earliest foundations of the actual Nepalese art and architecture, you will see great temples, square. Many monuments around are from the 14th century. After the tour, you will return to your hotel. Later in the afternoon, you will be met by the guide and he will go through your luggage/equipment and do a final checking if you need anything. We also have time to shop for final necessities to carry that is needed for the trek.
Day 3: KTM - Lukla - Phakding. Today in the morning you will take a short flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. It is about a 30-minute scenic flight on a tiny 15-20 seater propeller planes and you arrive at Lukla (2840m/9320ft). From Lukla, you will trek to Phakding (2610m/8562ft). This trek will be about 3 hours. Overnight at a teahouse in Phakding
Day 4: Phakding to Namche. You will trek from Phakding to Namche(3440m/11,286ft). The trek is about 5 to 6 hours and you will pass through some nice sherpa villages. At one point, this day on a clear day, you can get the first glimpse of Everest. You will spend overnight in Namche Bazaar. From Namche, you can see the Kongde Ri, Thamserku peaks and experience excellent sunsets in clear good weather.
Day 5: Namche Acclimatization. Today you will stay in Namche in order to rest and acclimatize as you will gain more elevation from the next day. You will take a hike up to the Khumjung village. You will have great views of Everest, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse, and many other peaks. You will return to Namche and spend overnight.
Day 6: Namche to Tengboche: Today is our trek from Namche to Tengboche (3860m/12,664ft). This trek is about 5 to 6 hours. After the first hour of the uphill trek, you will stop and explore the Sagarmatha National park museum. You will get to know about the sherpa history and the wildlife and biodiversity of that region. You will trek with views of the Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Talboche, Kangtega & Thamserku peaks. You will spend overnight at a teahouse at Tengboche.
Day 7: Tengboche to Dingboche. Today you will trek to Dingboche (4410m/14,469ft). The hike is about 5 to 6 hours. The village of Dingboche is a very nice place for good photo opportunities.
Day 8: Dingboche to Chukhung. Today you will trek towards Chhukung (4730m/15520ft). You will stay overnight here and have another day for acclimatization. Overnight at Chhukung.
Day 9: Chukhung acclimatization - Chhukung Ri. Today you will explore on a day hike up to Chhukung Ri (5550m/18200ft). This hike is about 3 to 4 hours. You can also easily trek to the peak and have an awesome panoramic view around you. You will hike back to Chhukung and spend the night.
Day 10: Chhukhung to Lobuche - Kongma La Pass. Today is the trek from Chhukhung to Lobuche (4940m/16,207ft). The trek is about 6 to 7 hours. Along with this trek, you will also cross the Kongma La Pass (5535m/18160ft). With the difficult cross through the Khumbu Glacier, you will get to Lobuche where you will spend the night.
Day 11: Lobuche to Gorak Shep - EBC - Gorakshep. Today you will trek towards Gorak Shep (5164m/16,942ft), which is the base point departure to Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar. You will then continue trekking from Gorak Shep to Everest Base Camp (5364m/17,600ft). From here you will have a good view of Nuptse, Pumori, Changtse, and other high peaks. The trek is about 6 to 7 hours long. You will return and spend the night at Gorak Shep.
Day 12: Gorak Shep - Kala Patthar - Lobuche. Today you will take an early morning trek to Kala Patthar (5545m/18,192ft) for the first sun rays hitting on Mount Everest and other surrounding peaks. After the sunrise views on Everest and peaks around, you will descend to Lobuche and spend the night. The trek is about 5 to 7 hours.
Day 13: Lobuche to Dzongla. Today is a shorter trek for about 3 to 4 hours. You will arrive at Dzongla(4830m/15,850ft) and spend the night there.
Day 14: Dzongla - Cho La Pass - Gokyo. Today you have about 7 to 8 hours trek to arrive at Gokyo (4800m/15,580 ft). This is a long strenuous trek, but has excellent views of many mountain peaks. You will also pass the famous Cho La Pass (5420m/17,780ft). With a careful hike up to the pass, you will later also hike by the edge of the Ngozumpa Glacier, known as the longest glacier in Nepal. Seeing some of the Gokyo lakes, you will stay at a tea house here.
Day 15: Gokyo Acclimatization - Gokyo Ri. Another rest and acclimatization day at Gokyo. You will take a day hike up to the Gokyo Ri (5360m/17,585ft) north of Gokyo. You will also see more of the six Gokyo lakes. You have views of many mountains, glacier including Everest on this day trip. Overnight at Gokyo.
Day 16: Gokyo to Lumde. Today is our trek to Marlung (4368m/14,331 ft). Our last strenuous section, today you will be doing the Renjo La Pass (5360m/17,585ft) The trek is a challenging 7 to 8 hours, but you enjoy the views similar as from Gokyo Ri. You will spend the night at Lumde.
Day 17: Lumde to Namche. Today you will trek to the town of Namche where you began your trip. Trek is about 5 to 6 hours. Overnight in Namche.
Day 18: Namche to Lukla. We will trek to Lukla today. The trek is about 6 to 7 hours with lunch in Phakding. Overnight in Lukla.
Day 19: Lukla to Kathmandu. Today you bid farewell to your porters and the short flight from Lukla brings you to Kathmandu. Airport transfer and check in to your hotel.
Day 20: Rest/Farewell: Today will be your last day with some time to rest. In the afternoon we will go visit the Bouddha Stupa on a short tour and then have a farewell dinner. This extra day is built in to the itinerary in case of weather delay along the trek.
Day 21: Departure: Today is your final departure and Himalaya Journey staff will see you off at the airport.

Each participant will be sent a list of required and recommended gear for the trek in Nepal that they will be responsible for.
Accommodations: In Kathmandu you will stay in the highly rated and centrally located Aryatara Hotel. Along the lower section of the Everest Base Camp Trek, you will still in comfortable, clean guesthouses. In the upper section of the trek, accommodation is very limited to basic guesthouses with shared bathrooms. Internet access is available at most guesthouses in the lower section for a fee. Internet access can be limited in the upper section. All accommodations are based on double occupancy.
Meals: Breakfast will be provided for each day you are in Nepal. Lunch and dinner are not provided while you are in Kathmandu, but are provided for each day you are trekking. Meals will be a combination of Western and Nepali dishes.
Eligibility: Clients should be in very good health and able to do this long-distance, high altitude trek. As with all of our journeys, we take proper time to acclimatize in order to reduce the risk of serious altitude sickness. Ascent will be slow and gradual with rest days included in the itinerary. This tour is not recommended for those who have severe asthma or who have had problems with high elevation in the past.
Travel and Rescue Insurance: All participants are required to have an insurance policy that covers helicopter rescue, flight cancellation, lost luggage, etc. We can recommend some insurance agents to contact.
Weather Delays: Sometimes the flights to and from Lukla, Nepal are delayed or cancelled due to poor weather. Himalaya Journey will not be held responsible for additional costs of meals and accommodations due to weather or other Force Majeure. The client would be responsible to cover the costs of any extra days of accommodation or meals in case of delay due to Force Majeure. We strongly recommend booking your international flight departing Nepal at least 2 or 3 days after your trek is scheduled to end to account for possible delays.
